TURNING HEADS: A FUMBALINAS TALE

  • Jodie  AKA Fumbalinas with the assistance of her wonderful team of freelancers, designs and creates unique, unruly yet sophisticated statement headwear, accessories, Kaftan Gowns and Robes for all shapes, sizes and occasions. From couture metallic PVC Turbans, unique origami and floral infused headpieces to sequin dripped marabou kaftans - all are made to turn heads.

Fumbalinas was established in 2012 through the lack of unique, handcrafted headwear available on the market. From beginnings in creating bespoke headpieces that would be worn for her then work in the performance world, Jodie found she had a natural skill, passion and flare for the craft, and thus started to work on a more professional level and turn it into a business. The business has since developed to include a clothing line - a wide range of size inclusive kaftan gowns and robes - made from Jodies own bespoke pattern and containing our signature "hidden ribbons" which are magically designed to accentuate any and all figures.

Fumbalinas has made some big steps over the years with work being featured in a plethora of fashion magazines (British Vogue, Harpers Bizarre), on Music Videos and awards ceremonies, celebrities (Madonna, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Dawn O'Porter, Kylie Jenner, Fearne Cotton, Travis Alabanza, Morcheeba, Kiri Pritchard, Jayde Adams), as well as delivering workshops around the UK (The Royal Academy of Arts, Aberdeen Arts Museum, Sense UK).

We have also raised a current amount of £4300.22 for a number of charities through targeted projects such as quarterly raffles and charity auctions. The charities include - Martlets, MIND, RISE, BLAM, SOLD Shoreham, Blind Veterans UK, KRAN, The Poppy Factory, The Wildlife Trust, Sense, Wirral Hospice, Unicef Yemen, Transplant Sport, the wildlife trusts, Survivors Network, Rainbow Trust, Safe Passage, Heart Research uk, Voices of Children, Sue Ryder, Disasters Emergency Committee, Comic Relief, Noahs Ark Hospice, Kaleidoscope Trust,

Our Ethos
At Fumbalinas we pride ourselves in being unique and size inclusive in the patterns and designs we make for our customers and aim to bring joy in each and every creation. You can spot a Fumbalinas piece a mile off with its unwillingness to play by the rules and unruly flare for the elegant yet extravagent. We want to make pieces that make you, our customer feel GOOD. All our garments are made by hand in our east Sussex studio from our own bespoke designs. We actively seek out rare and unique fabrics from a range of UK based and international suppliers and specialise in using dead-stock and end of the line materials, meaning no outsourced or factory produced garments, but limited runs, and rare one of a kind pieces.
Jodie (pictured) makes everything by hand, with the help of her small team and each order takes time, care and love to perfect to the quality and standard we are known for.
